Aregbesola says protesting PDP leaders are ‘mentally unstable’, presents Gboyega Oyetola to Buhari




The outgoing Osun State Governor, Governor Rauf Aregbesola who presented the Governor Elect of Osun State Gboyega Oyetola to President Buhari at State House, described the protesting PDP leaders as ‘mentally unstable’ people.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola said this in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after he formally presented the Osun State governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola, to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

We reported earlier that Nigeria’s Senate President, Bukola Saraki led a PDP protest to INEC Secretariat over the Osun Election which has generated so much controversy.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and the national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State; former Niger State Governor and presidential aspirant Sule Lamido; Senator Dino Melaye also joined Saraki in the PDP protest against the outcome of the recently concluded Osun State Governorship election.




The protesters asked INEC, to declare PDP candidate Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the Osun election. The Osun State governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo, has also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from tampering with results.

The tribunal headed by Justice T .A. Igoche and Justice B. A Obayi as member also ordered INEC not to tamper with information contained in the card reader machines and other documents used for the poll. Senator Adeleke, through his counsel, Mr. Nathaniel Oke, SAN, had filed an ex parte application seeking leave of the tribunal to file the application before the pre -hearing session.

The applicant also sought leave of the tribunal to inspect and obtain certified true copies of electoral documents and materials in the custody of INEC. Adeleke predicated his application on the grounds that he was the candidate that contested the election held on September 22, 2018 and the re-run election held on September 27, 2018 on the platform of PDP.

Other grounds of the application are: “That the total votes won by the 1st applicant on the 22nd day of September, 2018 was 245 ,698 while the 1st respondent scored 245 ,345.
