BLACKFACE BLAST WIZKID A COMEBACK MOVE?
Blackface is a name in the entertainment industry that does not resonate with the new generation of Nigerian music lovers worldwide. Ask music lovers about him, only those in their thirties can give you a credible reply you can relate with. For those that dont know Blackface, here is all you should know about him.
He is associated with 2baba the 2face you know. They both started their career as a group Plantashun Boiz along alongside Faze . Plantashun Boiz is a group you must mention if you make a history of the now booming Nigerian Music industry that is gradually gaining worldwide attention. Blackface and 2face formed the group in Benue as they are both from Benue state, Faze joined them when they moved to Enugu. The group releases two successful albums Body and Soul’ the year 2000,
and ‘Sold Out’ the year 2003.
They broke up in 2004 and went for their solo careers. Their solo careers were a blessing to the music industry as we got to see them give us beautiful songs that topped charts those years though 2 face became everyones favorite because he was signed to the biggest music label in Nigeria back then Kennis Music. Blackface gave us ‘Ghetto Child’
a very remarkable album that people claim is still his best album of all time. Two song that got the country talking about the album were ‘Hard Life’ Where he stressed the problems of the Nigerian masses and how the government neglect their responsibilities of providing basic amenities for the Nigerian populace, and ‘Carry Us’ on which he stressed police brutality. 2face gave us ‘Face 2 Face’,
an album that houses the song ‘African Queen.’ Faze gave us ‘Faze Alone’,
an album that house the song of thesame title that saw him talking about how people underestimated him and predicted he won’t make it but he proved them wrong. The three albums performed well in the distribution market but 2face was the more popular of them all because of the song ‘African Queen’ that Blackface later claimed 2face stole from him.
After ‘Ghetto Child’ Black Face released ‘Ever Green’, ‘Jungle Fever’, ‘Me’, ‘Musiq and I’, ‘Dancehall Business’, and ‘Defender’, but they all did not blow him up like his former group member 2Face who has become the biggest music artiste of the modern generation from Africa. Thanks to the song ‘African Queen’, that sold out to the extent of becoming a soundtrack of an Hollywood movie ‘Phat Girlz’ that was released on the 7th of April 2006.
2007 saw the group coming back together to give us an album ‘Plan B.’
Fans of the music group Plantashun Boiz were happy that they have put their differences aside and expected the group to stay longer but it only lasted for a year as we were told the album was a business album put together by OJ Music one of the biggest music distributors back then, in agreement with the group members for their fans to get one last feel of their doing music together. After that album, Blackface and Faze has been underground until some months back when Faze surprised his fans with the song ‘Enemy Best Friend’ that was widely received by his fans as a great comeback song. Blackface popped up again when Wizkid replied president Buharis tweet on which he wished US president Donald Trump a quick recovery from Covid 19.

Is Blackface using his response to Wizkid to announce his comeback to the music industry?
