Burnaboy Acknowledge Outside Paved Way For His International Success…
Self acclaimed African Giant Burnaboy praise his third studio album OUTSIDE for his international success. Burnaboy released the 13 track album as his first project for Bad Habit and Atlantic records on the 26th of january 2018, and it houses his first major international hits ( SEKKLE DOWN ft JHUS, HEAVENS GATE feat LILY ALLEN, and OUTSIDE feat MABEL MCVEY ).
The album went on to debut at number 3 on the Billboard United States Raggae Albums. It went on to win Album Of The Year at the 2018 Nigerian Entertainment Award, and the 2019 edition of the Headies award. The 7th song on the album ‘YE’ which happens to be fans favorite, peaked at number 26 on the US Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and number 31 on the US Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.
It won the Song Of The Year, and the Listeners Choice awards, at the 2019 Soundcity MVP Awards. It also won Best Producer for Phantom, the producer of the song at the award. Burnaboy also won African Artiste of the year and Best Male Artiste, making it 5 awards at the Soundcity MVP Awards for the Album OUTSIDE.
The song ‘YE’ has been Certified GOLD in Canada and France. It has also been Certified SILVER in the United Kingdom.
Since releasing OUTSIDE, Burnaboy has featured the following international artistes Dave, Jorja Smith, Major Lazer, Stormzy, Vybz Kartel, Beyonce, Edsheeran, Sam Smith, Chris Martin, Wretch 32, IDK, Mahalia Burkmar, and the most recent one SIA.
In acknowledging the contribution of the album to his achievements so far as a musician, Burnaboy took to twitter to celebrate 3 years of the album release with the following tweet:
