Abdullahi Samaila, 30, was arrested by the commanders of the Niger state police for being a kidnapper. In his confessional statement, Abdullahi, who is a pastor, said the inability to pay his children’s school fees forced him to kidnap.
The suspect was arrested after orchestrating the kidnapping of one of his friends, Alhaji Yahaya Hamza of Camp Fulani in the local Karaye government of Kano state, on August 31, 2019. Hamza was heading to Kano state when he met Abdullahi who convinced him to spend the night at his home in the town of Ishau. In the middle of the night, Abdullahi and two other people who are currently free have held Hamza hostage and robbed him of N15,000 and other valuables for a total of N16,500. They also contacted Hamza’s family and demanded payment of N7m as ransom before his release.
They were arrested by the police after a cancellation.
