ON THE MATTER OF 2023 PRESIDENCY AND ROTATION BETWEEN THE NORTH AND THE SOUTH
Importantly, and to be sure, it is tactless, somewhat, for the people of the south to talk about the 2023 presidency on the basis of rotation between north and south. This is both myopic and parochial, tactless. The people of the south should talk on the basis of rotation between three zones, the north, the middle belt and the south.
Ultimately, the three zones will morph into these three groups of two geo-political zones, each; one, South-South cum South-East, two, North-West cum North-East, and three, South-West cum middle-belt.
This is the realistic appreciation of our political life, as this is the manner of thinking of our political leaders and the illiterate masses. By talking on the basis of north and south, the southern leaders are helping the north to continue to enslave the middle belt.
The southern leaders are thereby betraying the people of the middle belt, and leaving them as slaves of the northern leaders; and in the consequence, empowering the leaders of the north, or better, the far north, to continue to enslave the southerners, also.
Logically, it is the turn of the zone of south-west cum middle-belt to produce the president in 2003.
On October 12, 1960 in the Patriot newspaper, Sir Ahmadu Bello said to the media; “The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power.
We use the minority in the north as willing tool, and the south as conquered territory, and never allow them to rule over us, and never allow them to have control over their own future.” This explains the history of Nigeria from 1960 till the present and evil situation of contemplation of ‘RUGA’ settlement for the Fulani in every one of the 36 constituent states; among many other evils.
Our forefathers, i.e.
Yoruba’s, were wise, tactful, crafty, diplomatic and realistic. Our forefathers were visionaries and wise men, incontrovertibly so, otherwise, we shall not have a rich culture, Ile-Ife, Oyo-Alaafin, Ibadan, Ijebu, Egba, Ekiti, Ijesha, Shaki, Ogbomoso and so on and so forth.
Read the war tactics of the Ibadans, and you would realize that the great warriors, the Baloguns, relied more on brain than on brawn, in prosecuting and winning their wars.
The Yorubas, the south west, should, be talking of Igbo presidency, middle-belt presidency, and north-east presidency, in this order, as the preferences in 2023.
This is because of Obasanjo, Jonathan and Buhari. Yoruba man as president in 2023 should be regarded as a fallback position, since, at any rate, it would be tactless, to think in the absolute that no Yoruba man should aspire to be the president in 2023.
In the dynamic milieu, merit, compromise and established dynamism of the Yorubas may make the middle-belt, the south-east and south-south support a Yoruba man to become president in 2023. But it is only tactful that we build solidarity among the people of the middle belt, the south-west, south-east and the south south, if we would secure enough votes and states to win the presidency, for the Yoruba, the Igbo, the Niger Delta, the middle belt men and all other Nigerians.
The north-east option should come after the south-east and middle-belt options.
Whether we like it or not, the A.P.C and P.D.P still remain as political parties in Nigeria, and any person from any section of Nigeria can contest in the party primaries for the presidency.
If the far north will successfully support a middle belt person, each, in the party primaries, as the presidential candidate for each of the A.P.C and P.D.P, then the south should forget restructuring into true federalism and expect not to produce the president, for a long time to come.
Let the Yorubas support the Igbos, and the middle belt people, as alternative priorities, or preferences, for 2023 presidency. It is then the Yoruba political fortunes shall receive great boost and the Yorubas shall have influence on the government of Nigeria in the future, and for a long time.
Yorubas, we should not put our eggs in the same basket. He, who humbles himself, shall be exalted. And, he, who exalts himself shall be destroyed. This is popular wisdom. The Yorubas should politik in this spirit and leave the rest to God Almighty.
Read this short story that happened many hundreds of years ago. After the demise of an Oba, King, the King-makers gathered the six princes, members of the royal family, equally entitled to be en-throned the next king, to a meeting, and asked them, each, to talk about his mind-working as the possible next king.
The youngest of the princes, who was in his early twenties, requested that he be allowed to pick the next king out of the other five, that is, barring himself. Upon hearing this, one of the king makers asked the princes to excuse them for a moment, and the king-makers went into an inner chamber.
There, in the inner chamber, it was unanimously agreed that that youngest prince should be announced as the unanimous choice of the king-makers as the next king.
