Aisha Buhari, president Muhammadu Buhari’s wife on Saturday visited victims of a collapsed building at Ita Faji area of Lagos Island.
During her visit to the Lagos Island General Hospital, Mrs Buhari prayed to God to grant families who lost loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss, while also wishing the survivors speedy recovery.
NAIJAXTREME reports that the three-storey building located on Marcey Street of the Ita Faji area of Lagos collapsed in on Wednesday, leaving over twenty dead and over 40 injured.
Most of the deceased are children who were pupils of Onah Nursery and Primary located on the top floor of the collapsed structure.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) which partnered with other agency in rescuing the victims.
Their bodies were later deposited at the morgue of the hospital after being rescued from the rubble.
This led to prompt action from the Lagos state government on Friday demolishing manually properties marked for demolition after failing the integrity test.
Barely 48 hours after, a similar incident occurred at an uncompleted building located in Sogoye, along Bode, Molete area of Ibadan, leaving eight workers trapped before they were eventually rescued by the relevant agencies of the Oyo state government.
It was gathered that they are all in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.
