US government faces shutdown threat over daunting challenges

The US government has a number of major tasks that must be accomplished this month, including approving funds for the country’s healthcare system and for the victims of Tropical Storm Harvey.

September 30 is the deadline for establishing funds for the government before it is forced to close. US President Donald Trump has threatened a shutdown if he does not get the money needed to build his wall on the US-Mexico border, which has been a highly contentious issue.
